Hi Dreamers,
I am away on vacation this week, so thought I would use the occasion to spotlight some really wonderful voices out there in dreamland.
I invite you to take some time to listen, watch, or read some of these great resources on dreams and sleep. This is just a small sample of the rich plethora of material available — if there’s something you think I and your fellow dreamers would enjoy knowing about, feel free to add it in the comments.
Movies:
Dream Scenario (2023). This is a dark comedy about a dull academic researcher who starts appearing in people’s dreams. At first, it’s just in his daughter’s dreams, then in the dreams of his students. More and more people start dreaming about him and he becomes a celebrity. Watch what happens as his life becomes dominated by projections. Here’s a trailer: Dream Scenario trailer
On Body and Soul (2017). This is a Hungarian movie about two co-workers who share a dream life and can communicate in their shared dream. Here’s a trailer: On Body and Soul trailer
Podcasts:
ThisJungianLife. Three friends, all Jungian analysts in private practice, bring a Jungian perspective to current events, movies, fairy tales, and more. All the episodes are interesting, and they have several episodes about symbolism, archetypes, and dreams. Here are a few:
Jungian Alchemy: the secret of inner transformation
Psychodermatology: How skin communicates unconscious conflicts
I highly recommend the episode where the hosts, Lisa Marchiano Deborah Stewart, and Joseph Lee have a thoughtful conversation with one of the actors in the movie Dream Scenario. The best part of the conversation is when they actually talk about the movie, about halfway into the conversation.
Kate Berlin: the collective unconscious in the new movie Dream Scenario
The Dream Show with Jane Teresa Anderson. Jane Teresa is a dream analyst, dream therapist, mentor, author, and frequent dream expert guest in the media. She has over 200 podcast episodes all about dreams and dreaming. Find her podcast here: Jane Teresa Anderson podcast
The Matt Walker Podcast. Matt Walker is a Professor of Neuroscience at UC Berkeley, and is the author of the book Why We Sleep. The podcast is all about sleep, the brain, and the body. He has several episodes about dreams and dreaming. Matt Walker Podcast
